Listening to Music Can Make the Job Search Fun BLOG POST 2022
Have you ever been listening to a song which spurred you on? Put you in a good mood? I believe listening to music you like can be applied to the job search problems you’re facing.
There are 3 key benefits:
1. Music sets the mood. Your life has musical moments associated with good times, self-confidence, and positive mindset. For me, I remember songs from high school and college which were some VERY good learning times, high achievement, high self-esteem, and openness to taking on new challenges. This translates to a positive mindset.
2. The positive mood enables creativity, planning, outreach for help, options and analysis, priorities, and ultimately “right next steps.” Music enables self-expression by activating regions of the brain that influence things like memory, emotions, and the release of endorphins for decision making.
3. Even if no next steps are taken, music has been shown to reduce anxiety, decrease stress, relax muscle tension, and lessen the feelings of being trapped, stuck, frustration and unworthiness related to being in the same job for awhile or unable to take a step.
So the next time you’re thinking about facing challenges at work, so something about it: put on some music that feels good to naturally improve your mood and increase your happiness.
Let the confidence, focus and empowerment roll!
